What you get to see

  • Every post in order, with links, mentions and hashtags rendered as real links rather than raw text.
  • Replies and threads marked, so you can hide the conversational noise and read only what you actually wrote.
  • Your images and videos, shown inline — including the ones your export file does not contain.
  • Likes, reposts, follows, blocks, lists and starter packs.
  • Records from other AT Protocol apps you have used, which most tools silently discard.
  • Word count, posting history by month, first and last post, and how much media you have accumulated.

Why a reader and not just a converter

Most people looking for a "Bluesky backup reader" are not looking for a file format. They want to know what is in the backup — whether that old thread survived, whether the photos are there, whether it is worth keeping.

So this starts as a reader. You look at your archive first, in full, for free. Only if you then want it as a finished artifact — an Obsidian vault, a Notion workspace, a blog, a PDF — does anything cost money.

Two ways in

Type your handle and your archive is pulled from your server automatically. Or drop the .car file you already downloaded, in which case nothing touches the network at all.

There is no account to create and no password to give anyone. Bluesky repositories are public data; reading one requires no permission and this tool asks for none.

Questions

Can I read someone else's archive?
Technically yes — all AT Protocol repositories are public, which is a property of the protocol, not of this tool. Practically, this is built for reading your own, and bulk collection of other accounts is not something we make easy.
How big an archive can it handle?
A 75 MB export with over 200,000 records parses in under a second on an ordinary laptop. The slow part is downloading the file from your server, not reading it.
